THE SPECTATOR

Absolute peach, utterly delicious and worth a great deal. The result of a happy marriage between South American sun and soil and French expertise. Made in Chile by the well-known former Chablis producer William Fèvre, the 1998 La Misión Pinot Noir is an absolute cracker, which cannot fail to bring a smile of pure pleasure to your lips. Pinot Noir is a notorious so-and-so to grow and some would argue that only in Burgundy does it flourish, but I reckon that one sip of this should be enough to convert the doubters: rich aromas of spicy, juicy fruit are backed up by the intensity of flavour that one expects from New World wines, along with that traditional elegance for which Old Wines are prized. Stunning.
